The institution of cinema was one of the areas that underwent a serious change in the cultural arena after the Islamic Revolution. The cinema, from the very beginning of the revolution, was the focus of attention as a cultural instrument to use for the promotion of religion. Four samples of religious cinema works of post-revolution era have been picked up for this study. Discourse analysis and discursive-semiotic methods have been used to provide answers to the following questions: What are the discourses of religious cinema after the revolution and what are their discursive formation and contextuality. The findings of the study show that the cine texts after the Islamic Revolution can be accommodated in five discourses: Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defense; withdrawal from urban life to ruralism; individualism; toleration and pluralism and return. These discourses respectively created their desirable subjects, i.e. sacred revolutionary subject; space meaning, individualistic, tolerant, and obliged reformist believer. The findings of this study also show that the sematic confrontation of the tolerant pluralist religious discourse and individualistic discourse with the discourse of the Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense and the discourse of return is tangible and clear. Also, there is an overlap between the discourse of the Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense, withdrawal from urban life and ruralism and return regarding the common signifiers.
