English

Academic governance, as an emerging concept in the higher education system, refers to a set of laws, policies, and rules that determine the responsibilities of various actors. In this system, universities, as the main centers of activity in the field of higher education, play a vital role. Academic governance in Iranian higher education can have an important impact as a key factor in the development and progress of universities and the achievement of higher education goals. Given the importance of the subject, this research aimed to identify and analyze the key drivers of academic governance in Iranian higher education. This research aimed to identify and analyze the key drivers of academic governance in Iranian higher education. This study was an exploratory mixed-method study that was conducted using the futures research method between 1402 and 1403. The research population included the deans of Tehran universities and higher education experts. First, through semi-structured interviews with experts, the factors affecting academic governance in higher education were identified and then 22 key factors were identified in six main dimensions. In the next stage, the key drivers of academic governance in Iranian higher education were examined using the structural analysis method and two factors of "globalization" and "international interactions and political exchanges" were identified as key drivers of academic governance in Iranian higher education.
