Samples were selected by targeted sampling to achieve saturation. In order to studying Iranian mothers' parenting beliefs, a semi-structured interview was devised based on the funnel technique. According to the qualitative analysis of the interview based on the funnel technique identified 6 deep parental beliefs , namely: seeking of society’s approval and collectivism, individualism and seeking freedom, feeling of responsibility and guilt in-lieu of maternal duties, seeking dominance and monopoly and finally the fear of loss. Furthermore, father is viewed as a powerful figure-head. The results of the study showed that sense of maternal responsibility and guilt towards it was more pervasive among Iranian mothers’ core beliefs. Therefore, based on the overall results, it can be ascertained that the deep sense of maternal responsibility in Iranian mothers affects the more superficial levels of cognition, similar to the middle layers of beliefs
